The Young Ambassador movement is growing. This year each local area has the opportunity to recruit more inspirational young people to promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
This year Sheppey & Sittingbourne will be able to access resources for:
· two Platinum Young Ambassadors working across the SSP
· three Gold Young Ambassadors working across the SSP
· two adiStar Young Ambassadors in every secondary school, including special schools.
However you are welcome to register more Young Ambassadors. Please note that each secondary school will only receive 2 sets of Adistar kits, and we will have a maximum of 5 additional sets for Gold/Platinum to share across the SSP.
You may choose to reregister your existing Young Ambassadors or new ones.
Please email a list to Rosie Tribe by 5pm on 18th October with an asterix next to the names that you would like to receive kit.
Roles and responsibilities are downloadable below
Platinum Young Ambassador – must have spent at least one year as a Young Ambassador (Platinum, Gold or Adistar)
Gold Young Ambassadors – these can be new Young Ambassadors, or if appropriate you could promote your best adiStars Young Ambassadors.
Adistar Young Ambassadors - these can be new Young Ambassadors or you may wish to reregister existing Adistar Young Ambassadors. You may register more than two, however you will not receive additional kit.
All Young Ambassadors, new and existing, will need to be registered with the Youth Sport Trust to access kit and resources.
Registration for Young Ambassadors and booking for conference places has just opened. Young Ambassadors aged under 16 will need to gain parental consent. This is built into the registration process, and your support in gaining this consent would be appreciated.
Rosie Tribe will need to verify registration - this includes identifying for the YST which are the Gold and Platinum Young Ambassadors for the area. Please note that due to the low allocation this means that some of the Golds and Platinums registration will be downgraded to Adistars on-line, but they can still take on the higher responsibilities within your own school.
The Young Ambassador Conferences provide training and information so your Young Ambassadors can perform their role to the best of their ability. This year we are holding more national Young Ambassador Conferences to meet increased demand.
The dates and venues for the Young Ambassador Conferences are as follows:
England
1st November – Exeter Rugby Club
7th November – York Racecourse
9th November – Ricoh Arena, Coventry
15th November – Twickenham
16th November – Twickenham
18th Nov – The Oval Cricket Ground
24th Nov – Lancashire Cricket Club
One Platinum Young Ambassador – must have spent at least one year as a Young Ambassador (Platinum, Gold or Adistar)
Three Gold Young Ambassadors – these can be new Young Ambassadors, or if appropriate you could promote your best adiStars Young Ambassadors
AdiStar Young Ambassadors DO NOT attend the conferences and are trained locally by your Gold and Platinum Young Ambassadors.
Bookings will be made by Rosie Tribe. She will try to book the a Twickenham conference, subject to availability.
If each school wishes to have a Gold & Platinum Young Ambassador we will select those who will attend conference from schools that are working closely with us, by hosting primary competitions.
For more information on the programme and type of young person that makes a good Young Ambassador, see the person and role specifications or visit Youth Sport Trust Young Ambassadors
