Welcome to the Sheppey and Sittingbourne School Sport website.

September 2011 is the start of a new era in school sport. It is still in its infancy please bear with us as we add more information to this website, as soon as it is received.

Within Sheppey & Sittingbourne there are two projects being delivered - The School Games and the School Sport Package.

1) * School Games*

Kent and Medway have been divided into 14 School Games Areas. In most cases these follow the traditional partnership boundaries, with significant changes in Canterbury, Maidstone and NW Kent.

Our School Games Area is call "Sheppey & Sittingbourne". Teams that take part in the School Games will be "Team Sheppey & Sittingbourne".

School Games Organiser

This role is hosted by Borden Grammar School and is a three day a week post.

To support the delivery of the School Games, PE Departments and Primary Schools PE Co-ordinators, the Government has allocated funding direct to secondary schools to deploy staff to support the programme.

Secondary PE Teacher Release: The following schools will be receiving funding for a one day release of a PE Teacher to support the development of PE & School Sport, focusing on the School Games:-

Borden Grammar School - Matt Feeney: wk1 Mondays; wk2 Thursdays

Challenger Centre, The

Fulston Manor School - Sarah Catt: Tuesdays

Highsted Grammar School

Isle of Sheppey Academy, The

Meadowfield School

Sittingbourne Community College

Westlands School, The - Vicki Benbow: Monday pm; Tuesday pm

Once we have a full list of who is being released or whether funds will be used centrally to employ staff we will release this information. This will be listed on the "Meet the Team" pages of the website.

2) *School Sport Package*

Schools who have taken the option to sign up to the School Sport Package will receive support to deliver PE and School Sport:-

CPD

Bespoke support

Sport Coaches

Bikeability

Virtual Competitions

Non-School Games Sport Competitions

Discounts with Sportshall Athletics, Thomas Sports and other companies.

Communication will be provided electronically, with a focus on this website. New profiles are being set up for Headteachers, PE Co-ordinators, 2012 Co-ordinators and Bursars. This will allow schools to sign up for events and offers that are only available to schools within the Sheppey & Sittingbourne School Sport Package.
